This is frustrating me. How come vegetarians can't eat other meat but it's perfectly legit to eat fish and shrimp?
I'm not referring to you, Emz, as its your friends that are confused and you yourself realise its rubbish.
But I do wonder if there will ever come a time that everyone actually knows what ''vegetarian'' means.
I feel like screaming from the rooftops sometimes ''VEGETARIANS DON'T BLOODY EAT FISH''...''OR CHICKEN...JEEEEEZ''.
But then the medication kicks in... :D
No, vegetarians don't eat beef fat, either.
There's no mystery to what is or isn't vegetarian. If it's an animal product that is obtained without killing the animal, then it is vegetarian. If you have to kill the animal to get it, then it is a "meat" item and, therefore, not vegetarian.
People are allowed to eat whatever they want. It just so happens that the definition of the word "vegetarian" refers to people who do not eat the flesh of ANY animal.
I suppose it's harder to relate to the blank stare and jutted jaw of a fish, so they don't seem as cuddly and people don't feel as bad about eating them. That could be one reason. Also, when it comes to cooking, meat, poultry and seafood are always separate. A meat pie will not have fish in it, otherwise it would be specifically called a fish pievegetarians allowed eat fish. Likewise when it comes to chicken. People might be getting confused between culinary definitions and biological definitions.
A TRUE vegetarian does NOT eat fish. So many people these days think that they are still vegetarian if they only consume fish... which isn't true. Fish is meat. Vegetarians don't eat meat. Please kindly correct you friends, and let them know someone who eats fish is a pescitarian.
It causes problems for real vegetarians when we go out to eat and we're expected to eat fish. Pescitarians are really starting to change the way people think and give off the impression that vegetarians eat fish, which they don't.
Vegetarians don't actually eat fish - they do not eat fish or any other kind of meat. Pescetarians are people who eat fish but no meat, but many people confuse pescetarians with vegetarians, which can be quite annoying sometimes! Hope this helps :)
Pescetarian:
Vegetarian:
Vegetarians do not eat meat of any kind, including fish. Fish belong to the animal kingdom.
If someone says they're vegetarian and they eat fish... -_- unfortunately they wouldn't be the first, but they're completely wrong to call themselves vegetarians.
Eating fish only is "pescetarian." No other meat; just fish.
Vegetarians eat NO meat; no fish, no cattle, no bird. :)
Your friends are misinformed. Vegetarians don't eat ANY animals, avegetarians allowed eat fishnd fish are animals. Therefore, vegetarians DO NOT eat fish.
Vegetarians do not eat fish. People who eat fish, but not other types of meat, are known as pescatarians.
Vegetarians do not eat fish. Ever! If somebody eats fish and calls themselves a vegetarian, then they are just plain ignorant.
If you eat fish or sea food you are NOT a vegetarian. Then you are a pescatarian. Vegetarians do not eat any meat at all.
vegetarians don eat any meat that includes fish n the bottomfeeders shrimp
Some people insist fish isn't meat.
Who told you that?
vegetarians are allowed to eat what ever they want they aren't "not allowed" to eat anything... its a life choice and it usually just fat chicks who cant go on diets because they eat so much but want to eat healthy, then you have your hippies who don't want to eat anything that has a face and these hippies sometimes don't eat fish as well
Well I heard that if people or vegetarian people don't eat fish, when they get older like in the 50s and 60s they tend to forget stuff and say I dont remember or even who are you and stuff, fish got omega 3 which helps people tends to remember stuff better even when they are old
