I have Avg free and my sister has avast
I have been using AVG Anti Virus for the past year and i have not had any problems with it. I would say which Anti Virus you should use is a personal decision because as long as you keep whichever Anti Virus updated there should be no problems (Of course as long as the Anti Virus software has good detection rates).
According to my research, Avg Free is better than Avast Because Avg contains more features. Some of these are anti-spy ware, anti-root kit, administration tool, periodic scans, scans of sent and received emails, the ability to "repair" some virus-infected files, and a virus vault to know what viruses held in your computer. The latest version of this is the Avg 8.5.
i assume you are talking about avg 8.5.if you are than avast is much better.1.avast has higher detection rates.2.avg 8.5 has grown so large it has turned into the old norton.the ironic thing is that norton anti-virus 2009 is SMALLER than the new avg.and its faster.if i wasn't using the new norton i would still be using avast.
They'll likely both be adequate for common users needs. I've used both in the past with good success, but have curavast free avgrently settled on Avast.
I had some issues getting updates from the free AVG servers which prompted my switch. Otherwise I'd still probably be using AVG today.
If what you have is installed and working, there's not really much reason to switch.
here is some free information for all you AVG free lovers.
AVG Free contains basic antivirus protection (base level only).
AVG Free does not contain Anti-Rootkit protection so rootkits may be hidden in your system.
AVG Free does not contain Anti-Spam which can monitor and block SPAM and fraudulent e-mails.
AVG Free does not contain the new Safe Downloads & Instant Messaging protection (Web Shield technology)
so it does not screen your downloads and communication for viruses and spyware.
AVG Free only includes the Safe Search protection which provides you with advice on search results.
It does not protect against infected pages. Only AVG paid versions contain the Safe Surf technology.
AVG free needs 256mb of RAM Avast uses only 28mb of RAM 55mb when scanning
so stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
source AVG :
i suggest you use Avast :
?
Avast by a mile. Just gavast free avgoogle it and you will find loads of good reviews for avast. i hate AVG it uses lots of resources and it just takes over your computer. i do not know why people like AVG so much i absolutely hate it. i use avast pro but we have avast home installed on all the pc's in the family.
AVG does not have rootkit detection, Avast does.
Avast uses more resources that AVG,but with a decent computer you should not have to worry.
For protection, in my opinion, the best free one is Avira.
But, to answer your question, the best is Avast, IMHO.
Sorry to be contrary, but I think Avira AntVir. I just reinstalled it, replacing AVG Free.
It is faster scanning and has a better interface, but if I were to choose on of the two put forward by you; then AVG.
h2h ;]k
I go for avast
1.it's light on ur system
2.it's fast
