If I buy a legal copy of a DVD movie and I play it at home, with 50 guests over my house watching it, I know this is legal.
At the same time, I have the capability to play that same DVD from my PC at home, and broadcast it online in a private room on PalTalk. If 50 people online came in that room and watched thadvd movie onlinet movie, am I violating any copyright laws?
if you are playing it in the privacy of your own home then it is legal.but if you go somewhere else to show it then its a Federal offense

I do not believe that to be illegal. What would make it illegal is if you were distributing 50 copies of the movie dvd movie onlinefor others to watch. Since you are just broadcasting it, I do not see there being a problem.
Infact, if you open winamp, there are several "TV" stations that play movies. You can find episodes of Anime, Horror movies, comedies, it's all being broadcast and I think it's prefectly legal.
